| This is one of those cases wherein the story writes itself. Sometimes it happens like that. Most of the time, however, I have to work to have the words to fall properly into place. It happens like this. I have a general outline for what is to happen with Tandra projected years into the future. This outline is something like a road map with major points of interest circled in red. There may be several different routes I can take to visit those circled points, but whichever route I choose, I know I need to touch upon those special interest points. With this map before me, I know I won’t get lost or come to a dead end in the plot. The next step is to write specific Tandra pages. This I normally do a couple weeks before the page is drawn. When I sit down to write a page, I will often write several pages in one session. When the art is completed and scanned into the computer, I transfer the copy to the specified page. This is when I normally adjust the copy for awkward word arrangement. I also usually spell check at this time, though that is not a hard and fast rule. It is also not unusual to spell check a page several times from the first writing until just before I send it off to my tech guy for posting at the site. I may continue to tweak the copy until the last minute or I may be happy with the wording and leave it be. It depends upon the page. Obviously, a page that “writes itself” is much easier to complete than one that requires multiple revisions to get it into final form. Whichever it works out, the writing of Tandra remains the most fun of any part of producing the weekly page. May the sun always shine on your parade! Next Week; “The Hidden Cave” Tandra...more than escapist fantasy, it’s a revolution! Hanther |
