‘There’s no god to see!”

Kaliste, first introduced way back on Tandra Page 650 as the supernatural being to whom the mighty Lord Kilthane owed allegiance was an apparent departure from the basic conditions revealed of the Tandra Universe until that point. Previous to Tandra Page 650, all the wonders and fantastic happenings on Tandra from the incredible Star Doors that allowed walking from one planet to another on the opposite side of the galaxy to be as simple a procedure as walking from the living room into the kitchen and revealed huge islands of solid matter able to hang suspended high in mid air were presumed to be rooted in hard science. We might not understand how such things could be, but they existed because of sufficiently advanced technology. With Tandra Page 650 it appeared the basic ground rules governing the Tandra story line had been altered. Here was now evidence of Harry Potter grade pure magic. Matter could be altered by the simple whim of a god.

But I have always said, Tandra characters perceive events from their individual perspectives. As on Earth, events are viewed from each viewer’s prejudice. Kaliste becomes more in evidence of this reality on the current page this week as Lord Kilthane explains the image in which Kaliste appears to him and Tempest reveals her image of the god as completely different. More to the point, the robed disciples of Kaliste gathered before the fire in the valley see Kaliste in the special image that is most pleasing to them each. Ultimately, no two viewers see an identical image of Kaliste.

The kicker is revealed in the final panel of Tandra Page 1090 as David Galon asserts, “There is no god to see!”

You may notice he does not simply say he does not see the god which might indicate a confession the failure to view the god springs from a flaw in his own perception. His declaration of there being nothing to view is his insistence the space where Kaliste is said to display the presence is of fact empty. This is ultimately Galon’s insistence his view of the real world is true while those who insist they can view the god are the ones in error. They are the ones with the flawed vision!

So, the question is as follows; why does Galon not see Kaliste?

You have all the clues you need for discovering the answer to this simple question. You have all of 1090 Tandra Pages that make evident the answer to this query. The correct response lies within the essentials of Galon’s character, both as he was depicted as a man from Earth and in his more recent synthetic version.
