Tandra Page 1523, Fools

I’m sitting on my back porch looking out over the yard as the rising sun brightens the Eastern sky.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” -Psalms 14:1

The problem with fools is they do not make very good insurance risks. Being fools, they tend to make choices that dramatically shorten their life expectancy.

One of my favourite episodes from the original Star Trek series is the one from Season 2 titled “Who Mourns For Adonais?”. In this tale the crew of the Enterprise meet Apollo of Greek Mythology fame. It appears the gods left Earth when man ceased to believe in them, but Apollo set up shop on a distant planet to await the time a group of men would extend civilization into space and finally re-discover him. With this happy occasion at hand, and by use of his god-like powers, Apollo sets about to recreate an classical Greek society where the Captain Kirk and company will pass their time in tending goats and paying him worship.

This doesn’t work out according to plan, as expected. The mechanical device that gives Apollo power is destroyed and Apollo fades away to join the other gods in oblivion. The time of the gods is past. Captain Kirk makes comment it might have been nice to care for goats and worship Apollo, but it cannot happen. The time of the gods is no more because “We have outgrown you”, so makes claim Captain Kirk with a note of pity in his voice.

I am a fan of Greek Mythology and I enjoy any tale of the gods that portrays the gods as the Classical Greeks imagined them to be. I say this as a believing Christian because I look upon the Myths as fables that tell interesting stories that reveal truths about who were our ancestors. The gods of myth are no more true gods than, say, Superman or Spider-man. So I enjoy the myths on that level.

Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, returned to the concept that Man has long moved beyond the need for gods, that (as Captain James T. Kirk proclaims) “We have outgrown you” numerous times over his career. Roddenberry is not alone in this prejudice nor is he the originator of this concept. Roddenberry has a lot of company who join him in his delusion. These days, most of the Democratic Party advances the belief that God is a concept from the past that does not fit with a modern and technologically centered society and, in any case, men no longer require God because Democratic Leaders have replaced Him. The new gods are Barack Hussein Obama, the Light Bringer, and Hillary (The Wicked Witch of the Left) Clinton with other up and coming Democratic Establishment types waiting in the wings for the opportunity to themselves become gods. The Republicans are not quite ready to proclaim themselves gods, but they are willing and eager to serve as lap dogs for the Democratic Deity Class.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” Men have outgrown God and no longer need him.

And just observe how wonderfully men have conducted their affairs since showing God the door. Men who have outgrown God have fundamentally transformed the United States of America into the brokest nation that has ever existed in all of human history. Our economy exists balanced upon a fragile house of cards held in place by the imagination of the Centralized Bank, by men who cannot even effectively manage their own lunch money. The American Society has been fundamentally transformed into a collection of hostile gangs fighting among themselves over a swiftly shrinking pile of loot. Enemies who are sworn to destroy us now have the weapons that allow them to achieve their objective and this nation has been, within two weeks, struck by two massive storms from which, some authorities concede, we shall never recover. In the meantime, our leaders in name only are persons so disconnected from reality they do not have the ability to look between their legs and to decide if they should wear pink or if they should dress in blue.

Yes indeed, man has certainly outgrown God...and observe the disastrous consequences!

“Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God.” -Thomas Jefferson
