Visit :

As I think on it, Dragonrok, the Great, is likely my first ever positive portrait of a king or emperor.

Kenia is, of course, the iconic royal standard bearer of the Tandra illo-epic and, while she is portrayed as sexy with humongous boobs, she has never shown herself as anyone’s standard role model. It is only recently, after she no longer can lay claim to power to rule an empire, that she begins to become a character of some sympathy. I needed to remove her from her political ambitions before I could match her up with Galon. Galon, for his part, was offered once the opportunity to become ruler of Salindale to which his reply was, “I have no interest in doing so, nor would I have a clue how to begin.”

Other monarchs and political types have fared no better than Kenia. They have run the range from out right villains to characters who are caught up helplessly in a prison of political tradition over which they have no power to change. As Samaelayia said way back on Tandra Page 181, “We are the slaves of slaves!”

It is a point worth making that, while Dragonrok, the Great, comes off as a high minded and noble ruler, his reputation is the stuff of myth as handed down for thousands of years and as viewed through the mists of a former queen’s perceptions. The naked truth of the first Dragonrok’s rule might be less enviable than the flawed myths that surround him.

My essential view of political leaders can be summed up in my standard answer to the question often asked of people who wish they could run the world by their private whim, “What would you do if you were king of the world?”

I would abdicate!

Next week; Tandra Page 988 titled “Fragment On A Chain.”

See ya then.

May the sun always shine on your parade.
